The Stars traveled to Austin on Thursday night for a big district showdown vs. Hill Country Christian. Game one was a continuation of the rain shortened game played in Waco two weeks ago. Hill Country Christian was leading 10-3 in the fourth inning and ended up winning 13-6. Jack Fisher pitched very well in the final four frames. Grayson McReynolds led the team with three hits while Zach Ibarra and Heath Tull added two hits each.
In game two, the Stars showed what they are capable of as they downed the previously undefeated Eagles 7-6. Grayson earned the win on the hill with five strong innings in which he continually worked out of trouble and Jonah Erbe earned the save with two stellar innings in which he struck out four Hill Country hitters. The Stars were led at the plate by Jack Fisher who was 4-4 and Zach Ibarra who was 2-3. Zach hit the top of the fence in his 3rd at bat missing a home run by about two feet. It was a frozen rope! I am incredibly proud of these guys. They got on the bus this afternoon with a mission and they accomplished that mission. They were gritty, determined and competitive all night long and they have thrust themselves into the district championship and playoff picture with the win.
